Pomegranates for Fertility

Fertility

Many traditional societies believed that pomegranates improved fertility for both men and women, and indeed, they may have a point.

The high levels of vitamins C & B6, magnesium, and other antioxidants found in the juice of pomegranates help to protect both eggs and sperm cells from damage, playing a vital role in fertility and pregnancy.

Antioxidants have been used to improve sperm quality and speed of swimming, improving the chances of conception. Studies show that they can help improve blood flow, too, improving symptoms of erectile dysfunction in men. Pomegranate seeds can be eaten, or the juice can be drunk, but be careful to avoid added sugars. The seeds can be added to salads to add fiber, crunch and a delicious sharp flavor.
